I always wait for the next Max Levy designed home like some people wait for the next novel by a best-selling author. Max Levy might not design very many homes but you can count on the homes he does design winning awards and great recognition. Some architects create repeatable designs that become a highly touted visual brand. While Max Levy might contemplate projects in the same way, he allows the client and the environment to inspire a distinct approach, program, and solutions through every project. The home he designed in Hunt County was recently awarded Best of Show (Built Category).

Built as a series of seven elevated structures culminated in a contemporary home that was inspired by the environment and sensitive to the environment. The home, elevated off the ground with piers, prevents damage to the root systems of the surrounding trees. Pivoting windows and box-screens allow breezes to easily penetrate this modern home. The kitchen and public living spaces have screened porches on both ends.

The master bedroom, guest bedrooms, and bunk house for children occupy the rest of the structures. Seeing this winning project displayed on the huge screens at the Victory Plaza at the AIA announcement event even made me become fond of Victory Plaza. I can hardly wait to see the next modern home by Max Levy.
Max, keep drawing!
